1) Alternifolia is convinced that he is about to die and wants not only to die all alone, he wants Tertie to collapse the cave so Alternifolia can't become an Emperor. (He has a serious emperor phobia.) Tertie is convinced he can do enough field medicine to get Alternifolia back to the Solar Solar, but Alternifolia points out that Tertie has no medic training and isn't a mage. Tertie says he's descended from the Founders and they wouldn't let him leave a clanmate. Alternifolia says he's one of the First Four and he orders Tertie to leave. They're too far from the rest of the clan to contact the gestalt mind, so Tertie can't just stall until someone stumbles over them; eventually he agrees to go get help.
2) Mirabelle has no idea how to help Katyushka. She's a warrior! Katyushka's an accomplished healer! She's a Skydancer! Katyushka is a Tundra! Eventually she uses Bright Bolt to heat up some water to make steam for Katyushka to breathe in, and peels, chops, and roasts plantains until they're soft and easily digestible, and then she panics for a while, until Katyushka's daughter Secunda is recovered enough to take over.
3) Coalgleam and Candela probably go on an adventure for some rare mineral or gem or something; Candela burrows because he's a Spiral, and Coalgleam wants that kind of thing because she's a metalworker.
